What is the maintenance required for a rooftop solar plant?
On-grid solar plants are static in nature i.e., absence of any moving parts therefore very little is required in terms of regular plant maintenance. Cleaning of the solar panels with potable water 2 to 3 times a month is primarily needed in maintenance for the solar plant to give optimum generation.
How should I clean my solar panels? And how frequently should I clean them?
Cleaning of solar panels is just like washing the windscreen of your car. A splash of water followed by a rub from a soft cloth is all it takes to clean it. Frequency of cleaning depends upon the dust profile of the area where system is installed. A cleaning frequency of 2 to 3 times a month can be assumed for most of the localities.
Can I use energy generated from rooftop solar plant at night?
A Solar Rooftop System generates electricity by converting the light energy from the sun into electric energy. Since sunlight is the only source of energy for the panels to produce electricity, no generation happens during the night. A consumer will use electricity coming from the grid in the night.
Are my solar panels producing as much energy as they should?
Generation of solar panels depends upon the solar irradiance at a particular geography. Optimum generation from the solar panels can be verified by comparing the solar plant generation data with available solar irradiance data in a particular geography.
What all does warranty on the product include?
Our solar system comes with a complete product warranty of 5 years. It covers all the manufacturing defect related to the solar system. Any physical damages caused by manual intervention and natural wear and tear will not be covered under warranty for product replacement.
How will the electricity department record the units which has been given from solar?
The electricity department will be installing a Bi-directional meter which will record the units which is consumed from the grid and the units which is sent to the grid from solar plant.
What is the life of the On-grid system?
The On-grid solar system can last for more than 25 Years. In fact, as per the performance warranties a panel is still capable of producing 80% of its original power after 25 years.
Will it generate power when the sun is not there and the weather is cloudy?
The generation will be there in case of cloudy weather. Solar panels are capable of converting lights within wavelength of 400-1127nm to electricity. The panels receive diffused/scattered light during the cloudy weather which falls under the mentioned wavelength thus ensuring electricity generation.
Can I draw power from the solar system when the light goes off?
In case of an on grid solar system we are using an Inverter to convert DC power produced by the solar panels to usable AC Power. To maintain harmony between the solar and grid supply the inverter is seeking reference from the grid power before doing the conversion in absolute real time. Whenever the grid goes off the inverter stops getting the reference power and thus it shuts down the system till the time grid is restored.
I am afraid that solar system can cause electricity fluctuations?
There is no scope of electricity fluctuations as the units generated by solar system is the same in terms of voltage and frequency as the units coming from the grid. The inverter sensors are referring to voltage and frequency coming from the grid in real time and producing power accordingly. The home appliances will continue working in the similar manner as in grid supply power vis a vis solar supply power.
